More than just body language techniques, a power pose is an expansive posture that you hold for a minute or two before a stressful situation and it delivers instant power. When we feel powerful, we usually take up more space. Expanding body language will instantly signal to the mind that you are powerful.

Manipulating posture works because your body is constantly signaling information to the nervous system about how to respond to situations. Straightening up and taking up space can impact and alter your life, in a confident, powerful way. In short, Powerful Posture is your body, telling the mind, you are ok.

Cuddy spent years studying hormone and saliva samples to discover that expansive posture decrease cortisol levels and increased dopamine. These changes have the power to boost confidence and potentially create positive outcomes.

Little posture tweaks can make a profound difference. Some of those tweaks may be:

  • Straighten the spine
  • Uncross your arms and legs
  • Pull your shoulders back
  • Widen your arms
  • Widen your stance

Verbal expression can also change the way you feel,  you can instantly boost your mood and increase endorphins by smiling.
