On March 28, 2012 I was a closing inspirational speaker for the Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nursing Conference in San Francisco California.
Over 350 Nurses attended this event. Nurses in the imaging environment are accustomed to evolving with an ever changing care environment. Nurses practicing in the feild of radiology are a very narrow and unique specialty. They manipulate images (X-Ray,MRI, Cat Scans, etc) and also manage patient pain levels ( sedation, etc). Daily they interact with Radiologists who obtain and interpret medical images. The imaging nurse provides for the physical, mental and emotional needs of the patient. She develops and manages a care plan and interacts with and advocates for patients and family members.
Imaging nurses must always endeavor to keep up with technological changes in the healthcare imaging environment. Advances in imaging technology are happening daily and greatly enhance patient care levels. With better images, a greater understanding of a patients health can be obtained and better overall care plans developed.
Nonetheless, anytime change happens in a work environment, it has to be managed.
My motivational speech for the Nursing Conference, This Would be Funny if it wasn't Happening to Me! is about the power that humor has to control you attitude and navigate uncertainty in your lifes work.
The other inspirational speakers for the nursing conference is Donna Hartly doing her motivational speech, Fire up Your Life, based on her true life story of overcoming adversity.
The other motivational speeches include Hands- Off Communication and Promoting Radiology and nursing in developing countries.
