I was a motivational speaker for the Ontario Municipal HR Conference in Alliston Ontario last week. Enthusiastically manning her booth at the trade show I was pleased to meet Angela Gravelle, the Executive Director for the Ontario Municipal Leadership Institute ( OMLI).
OMLI is a professional organization dedicated to delivering "gold standard" leadership coaching, training and development in the municipal government.
OMLI is dedicated to developing high potential municipal leaders. Anyone from seasoned municipal professionals to those aspiring to a higher level.
In the municipal goverment, leadership development has reached a critical tipping point. Many baby boomer generation municipal leaders will be leaving the municipal goverment and will leave a critical shortfall in talent.
Municipal organizations will scramble to recruit and develop talent in an already tight labour market. Proactively having a strategy to spot, develop and train the next generation of talent may be the only way to survive.
OMLI offers leadership development workshops (Level 1 and Level 2 )that span 4 to 6 days each spread out over a 6 month period. Topics include everything from engagement, teamwork, team dynamics, leadership styles, performance measurement, workplace dynamics, ethics and more.
