In November 2014, I am a motivational speaker for Government finance officers in Biloxi Mississippi. Over 450 government finance professionals will attend the event from across the state of mississippi.
Typically government finance professionals prepare accounts, manage payroll, develop and maintain financial systems and budgets, report to the finance manager and ensure compliance with all financial regulation.
Add to this that this is a public service position that is subject to typical government regulation and red tape. Government finance professionals sometimes control the spending and the funding of an operation.
Like most jobs, most finance professionals have too much work to do and not enough time and resources to complete the work.
The annual meeting is an opportunity to network, learn and earn valuable CE credits. CE credits are issued through the national GFOA.
Guest speakers will help attendees get caught up on recent government finance changes and developments, awards will be given out and plenty of networking time is built into the agenda.
The conference will include a large exhibit hall for attendees to interact and learn about valuable individual vendors.
Goverment finance officers play a very unique role. The job can be diverse, continually evolving and stressful. This is a great opportunity to see valuable guest speakers, learn, be inspired and grow.
