March 1-2, 2019, hosts the Indiana State Good Teaching Conference. Upwards of 300 teachers, students and staff will attend this event, held at the Noblesville Parks & Recreation Annex in Indianapolis.
I will be the opening funny motivational speakers on March 2, 2019. The teachers association specifically hired me to help teachers lighten up and reinforce the power of humor, play and laughter to help maintain sanity. Teaching is a challenging profession right now. In Indianapolis, like many states, teachers have seen pay cuts over the last decade. Some of them making much less money than they did when they first started their career.
With wages unable to keep up with inflation, many teachers are leaving the profession. This means larger classrooms, more students, fewer resources and more stress. Teachers play an integral role, helping mentor, educate and support students at very critical times in their lives. I've always believed that budgets invested in education are a worthwhile investment in our future.
The Indiana Good Teaching Conference is a time to celebrate, refresh and refocus our enthusiasm. Teachers lead our future generation and need to be resilient in the face of so much controversy.
On March 1, 2019, the motivational keynote speaker is Dr. Lori Desaultels speaking about Revelations in Education. The motivational speech talks about how the brains number one priority is survival and how this impacts students and learning. When students go through trauma, they become detached and are unable to learn.
Lori’s passion is engaging her students through neuroscience in education, integrating Educational Neuroscience and learning principles and strategies. Check out her great TedTalk
The Good Teaching Conference includes many great breakout sessions. The event is specifically designed for teachers by teachers to bring fresh, new ideas into the classroom or school to improve student learning.
