On April 11, 2018, I am a motivational speaker for the City of Red Deer IT Department.
Red Deer is located halfway between Calgary and Edmonton and boasts a population of just over 100,000 people.
The hard-working IT department works tirelessly to provide the hardware, software, systems, and data to all City of Red Deer Staff. The computers and technology support all staff to efficiently do their job.
At times technology can malfunction, and it can throw off people's workflow. These are the professionals that troubleshoot, get the technology up and running and hopefully save the day.
The IT team has a broad portfolio of project requests, applications, systems and integrations to work through daily.
When a City staff member needs tech support, they first call the service centre, where they start the troubleshooting
Projects, planning, and control oversee the infrastructure, network, and security of networks, applications, and databases. Behind the scenes, there is a lot that goes on to maintain an IT system. They install, configure, upgrade, monitor and maintain the security of the data.
They also plan how applications interact with each other and with users. This team also provides ongoing support to over 110 different applications. These applications have all been customized and tweaked for each city department. These applications also link, integrate and share data.
The City of Red Deer IT team is very busy building applications, troubleshooting and supporting city staff. This team is stretched having more work to do and not enough time or resources to do it. Inevitably technology can be inconsistent and easily throw off a personal day.
I am excited to be a funny motivational speaker for the City of Red Deer IT staff. We will discuss how to manage stress and stay resilient in challenging times.
