On March 2, 2016, I am a humorous motivational speaker for the DHSS ( Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services ) and LPHA ( Center for Local Public Health Services) Public Health Conference. The event, held at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia, Missouri will bring in over 200 public health professionals.
The conference theme, Empowering Public Health for Tomorrow speaks to preventative public health to create and maintain thriving, healthy communities. Professionals in public health include administrators, nurses, doctors, social workers and psychologists.
Ultimately, this group is out to promote health behaviours in their communities.
Professionals will come from all areas, some smaller, rural communities where resources are tight and travel is often necessary to get needed care. Larger areas, like St Louis, MO would have different challenges like managing diverse populations.
The focus of public health intervention is to improve health and quality of life through prevention and treatment of diseaase and other physical and mental health conditions.
The event features over 26 exhibitors.
The other engaging guest speakers include sessions on public health nursing, using protective equipment to prevent Infectious Disease, Traumatic Brain Injury, Disaster Request Protocol, Medicare, Regional healthcare coalitions, Digital Storytelling for Health, Opioid Use and more.
I am looking forward to being the opening humorous motivational speaker for the public health conference. I will present the motivational speech, This Would be Funny if it Wasn't Happening to Me- How to Embrace Change with Humor, Enthusiasm and Vigor. We will focus on some of the change in public health and the inevitable demand to provide more and better care with limited resources- while keeping your sense of humor!
