On January 29, 2016, I was an opening motivational speaker for the ALIGN, Association of Community Services Conference. The event, taking place at the Fantasyland, West Edmonton Mall Hotel, brought over 400 participants.
Association of Community Services members are aligned in the goal to sustain excellent delivery of services for vulnerable Albertan children and their families. The audience was filled with some very caring giving and involved professionals that work in agencies whose mission is to help vulnerable families and their children. I presented the keynote speech, The Nerve to Serve, Say Hello to Humor and Goodbye to Burnout, to help the audience remember the power humor has to balance stress in traumatic situations.
I also presented a break out session called, I Love my Job, it's the People I Can't Stand. This highly interactive two hour session explored the conflict and challenges that can come up in specific communication scenerios between families with vulnerable children.
The audience was warm and engaging and really thrives on the opportunity to laugh and learn ttogether.
