On January 26, 2015, I am a motivational speaker for the National Credit Unions Gala. This event attracts over 500 Credit Union leaders from across the USA.
Credit unions are financial institutions like banks. They offer much the same services like deposit instruments, loans, mortgages, investment vehicles and bank accounts.
The biggest difference is that people who have accounts with a credit union become owners of the institution. They are non- profit and all the proceeeds of the doing business gets funelled back into the system in terms of lower fees and better products.
The challenge these credit union leaders face is keeping up with consumer demand in a technological world. Today, even in small communities customers( often called owners at credit unions) demand the latest advanced technology like online banking and smartphone applications. Check capture allows a customer to take a photo of a check and instantly deposit it into their account.
As a small community credit union, leaders struggle with typical issues like attracting and retaining professionals. Most credit union employees are stretched to do more work with fewer resources.
I look forward to being a motivational speaker for the Credit Unions Gala, I will present the motivational speech, This Would be Funny if it Wasn't Happening to Me! Embrace Change with Humor and Vigor.
