I was a female motivational speaker for the Governor's Hospitality and Tourism Conference on August 28, 2012, an event that draws over 1600 tourism and hospitality professionals from around the world.
Hospitality and tourism is a very important economic driver. Trends and issues facing the travel industry involve industry image, getting support for tourism investment, park maintenance, weather, transportation are major challenges facing the industry.
Attracting and retaining professionals in tourism can also be challenging. The industry tends to attract a young, transient workforce; it may involve low levels of pay. Tourism also attracts student, part-time and casual workers, since a large proportion of hours are worked outside normal business hours.
The voice of the tourism industry is a very strong one. Travel and Tourism is one of the world's largest industries.
The other inspirational speaker for the Governor's Hospitality and Tourism conference, Mark Bradley, did his inspirational speech on the trends in social media and how to embrace this incredible technology to support a thriving tourism industry.
As the closing inspirational speaker for the Hospitality and Tourism Conference, my inspirational speech was designed to compel the audience to remember the power that play and recreation has on our communities, our health and wellness and our lives.
The closing inspirational speech is called "The Nerve to Serve... Say Hello to Humor & Goodbye to Burnout!".
