I am a humorous motivational speaker at the Claims Management and Leadership Conference on June 20, 2011, in Naples, Florida.
The conference is put on by AE21, a consulting firm providing expert services to the insurance claims, risk management and legal services industries. The audience will be insurance claims managers, lawyers, Workers Comp professionals, vendors and more. 90% or more of the audience is in a leadership position, concerned with leading a solid team, managing 4 generations, and keeping their teams productive and motivated.
I spoke with James Greer, the president of Ae21. Jim suggested that most people don't aspire to be an Insurance Adjuster when they grow up, instead they basically fall into the role: Insurance claims adjusters, helping people who get hurt at work. The distinct joys of the job are helping people get the treatment they need to get back on their feet and gainfully employed.
Claims adjusters have stressful work. They deal with injured and disgruntled workers, regulators, audits, and more on a daily basis. Most of the work is handled over the phone, so they miss the benefit of one on one interactions. Leaders of claims adjusters continually strive to select and keep the best people. They work under strict budgets where there is never enough time or money to go around, and all team members must work together to achieve their goals given the time and resources they have. Leadership in the claims management field always feel like they are under the gun and pressed to maximum capacity.
As the humorous motivational speaker for the Claims Management and Leadership Conference, I am speaking about The Nerve to Serve… Say Hello to Humor & Goodbye to Burnout! We will open the leadership conference with some levity and inspiration to help decrease stress and lead a spirited claims management team.
