humorous motivational speakerI recently watched a TedTalk by Paul Piff under the provocative title: Does money make you mean?

As the motivational talk reveals the answer is yes. The psychologists performed numerous test (including a bogus monopoly game) that test how people respond when they have more money.

As the humorous speakers motivational talk reveals, as a person's wealth increases, their feeling of compassion and empathy go down and their feeling of entitlement and self interest increases.

Wealthier people are more likely to consider greed as good and the pursuit of self interest as favorable.

One of the studies found that lower income individuals gave away 44% more of their money to anonymous benefactors then wealthier individuals did. Another study revealed that the richer you are the more likely you are to cheat.

Finally a study found that drivers of more expensive vehicles tend to drive carelessly and break the law much more often.

Overall the motivational talk revealed that the wealthier you are the more likely you are to pursuit personal success at the detriment of others.

The humorous motivational speakers sobering conclusion is that 20% of the population owns 90% of the total wealth in this country. The implication is that these wealthy individuals put personal success above overall societal good.
