On June 16, 2016, I am a funny opening keynote speaker for the Indiana Child Support Conference. The event, held at the Radisson Star Plaza Hotel in Merrillville, Indiana will attract over 600 child support professionals.
The audience will be comprised of Judges, Prosecutors, Administrators, and Caseworkers. A child support professionals overall agenda is to protect and strengthen families and children by making sure that child support payments are made.
The non- custodial parent typically does not live with the child 50% or more of the time, thus they are responsible to pay child support.
Some parents fail to do this and so the process begins where a case worker will go to court before a judge to file a contempt and force payment.
Naturally, this role is has the potential for a lot of conflict. Some people have challenges making payments due to changing life circumstances. Some case managers spend upwards of a decade or more chasing down non- custodial parents to pay child support
This is the 40th Anniversary year of the Indiana Child Support Program which is referred to as Title 40 under the social security act.
I am hired specifically to be a funny motivational speaker because this group could use the humor. Working with three very sensitive areas: people, money and children, always brings up stress.
