On April 14, 2013 I am an Inspirational Speaker for the Marana Health Center Provider Retreat in Tucson Arizona.
This full day retreat is designed to help realign Marana Health Team providers and boost morale. 50 % of Marana Health care Providers are Nurse Practitioners and the other approximately 50% are Physicians. These are front line professionals who on a daily basis make a difference in patients lives.
Most providers see an average of 20 patients in a day and struggle to keep up.
Marana has one main clinic and 11 ancillary clinics. Some of the challenges Marana Health Center faces is that providers don't have a lot of opportunity to see each other and interact with clinicians at other centers. Referrals are often made over the phone without the opportunity to really interact with other providers, so it can be tricky.
Providers also have little control over their schedule as patients come in on a first come first serve basis. Administrators ( Finance, HR, Operations) overall control scheduling and often demand providers see more patients in less time.
Marana does have a vivacious new medical director, Dr Jenitza Serrano-Feliciano. Speaking with Dr Serrano-Feliciano about the engagement she is enthusiastic that the team can come together and support one another and this is the reason for the health care retreat.
As the Inspirational speaker for the Health care Retreat I will be presenting the motivational speeches, The Nerve to Serve.... Say Hello to Humor and Goodbye to Burnout! and I Love my Job, it's the People I can't Stand!
Following the motivational speeches will be lunch and a team building session to help providers get to know each other.
