On September 27, I am an opening inspirational keynote speaker for the British Columbia Society of Laboratory Science Conference in Kamloops BC.
This event will draw over 200 professionals who work mainly in medical laboratories. The majority work in the public sector where there stress is the usual government cutbacks and lack of resources.
Two thirds of the audience are Medical Laboratory Technologists, which means they primarily perform and oversee laboratory tests on specimens collected. Medical assistants or Laboratory Technicians actually go out into the health facility or hospital and collect the samples ( blood, urine, etc). Following these test the pathologist will have one final approval of the results and they are relayed to the physician. Over 80% of a physicians diagnosis comes down to the results of these tests.
Accuracy, quality and safety are all critical in this job.
The opening motivational speech will be, The Nerve to Serve... Say Hello to Humor & Goodbye to Burnout! Laboratory Technologists love to laugh and with what can be very isolating wor, they thrive on any technique to decrease stress.
I will also present a workshop motivational speech called, The Joy of the Job, followed by the motivational speech, I Love My Job, it's the People I can't Stand!
I was an opening Inspirational Keynote Speaker for the National CSMLS Conference about 8 years ago and found the audience to be incredibly engaging and fun.
