On October 26, 2011, I am a motivational speaker for the city of calgary Children and Youth Services Event.
The audience is comprised of three main groups:
- After School Programs. These are programs designed to keep kids in calgary busy during the critical after school hours of 3 to 6 PM. The idea that getting kids off the couch and out playing, learning and building skills will foster healthy communities.
-The Youth Employment Center. The purpose of the center is to support young adults through career counselling, developing their resumes and looking for employment opportunities in the city of calgary.
- Probation. This group is comprised of social workers who work with the community to help keep high risk teens out of trouble. These teens are assigned a social worker and are already in the criminal justice system due to a previous offense.
Because of the valuable work this spectrum of professionals performs, Calgary is a safe city that thrives and teens are encouraged to be involved and engaged in their community.
The work does come with it's challenges; helping young adults find work, teenagers can get discouraged or take a less proactive stance and sit back and expect the counsellors to do all the work for them. Coordinating after school programs that engage kids
I am looking forward to being a motivational speaker for the city of calgary CYS event. We will be talking about Leadership in the program Follow Me, I'm Right Behind You!
This is the second time I have served as a motivational speaker for this calgary event so I know what an enthusiastic crowd they are and I look forward to seeing some familiar faces.
