I fly at the end of this month to Plainstow, London to be a keynote speaker for a nurses conference at Newham University Hospital. Their will be over 500 Nurses at the conference.
The University Hospitals strategy is unique in it focuses on providing excellent care to improve community wellness, specialising in meeting the particular needs of their community and delivering the best treatment and support as close to patients’ homes as possible, in partnership with community and specialist providers. Their approach to embracing the sustainability and carbon reduction agenda have won them national recognition for their work.
I am a speaker for the Nurses conference on The Nerve to Serve, Say Hello to Humor & Goodbye to Burnout! Like many nursing conferences, they are looking to lighten up and have some fun. Health care can be very stressful. With difficult patients, unruly doctors, not enough resources and staff, lines of communication get crossed and people experience alot of stress.
Like many professionals in the health care feild recognize- laughing, humor and overall levity are the best ways to decrease stress in their work.
Often, the other speakers at the nurses conferences will be very clinical and sometimes the information is dry. Audiences revel in the opportunity to laugh together and have fun.
My goal will be to compell the nurses to remember the power of laughter and use it everyday to decrease stress, improve relationships and overall wellness. It is a long way to travel to give a motivational speech, so i want to make it very impactful.
Here is how laughter impacts your overall wellness
Any thoughts on how to customize a speech (ie- brittish humor?)
