On October 23, 2013 I was a motivational speaker for the Wisconsin Waste water Association's 47th Annual conference.
Over 600 waste water operators attended the event.
This unique audience spends most of their day at a sewage treatment plant collecting water samples to be tested to make sure they meet standards.
They also roam the facility and check to ensure the equipment is functioning properly.
This is definately a hard working group of people who have a certain amount of job stability. As long as we use the bathroom, they will have a job. I also learned that some of the things people throw down the toilet (biodegradeables like soap, tampons, etc) will not go through the filter and must be removed.
The audience had a great sense of humor, as expected, after all they work with sewage. The motivational speech, The Nerve to Serve... Say Hello to Humor & Goodbye to Burnout! compelled the audience to remember to take themselves lightly to decrease stress and maintain sanity.
I really enjoyed being a motivational speaker for the wastewater operators association, 90% of the audience were men.
