On October 30, 2013, I was a motivational speaker for the Utah department of human services support staff event. Over 300 support staff workers attended the event.
Support staff assist case managers, who are usually social workers with cases to protect potentially endangered children in disrupted households.
The support staff role is to fill out the paperwork, know the ins and outs of the system, support case workers with there green binders ( cases).
The job sometimes entails going to family meetings, taking notes and seeing children be removed from threatening home situations. The job can be emotionally draining because it is hard to experience families being torn apart and the workload is relentless.
I was the closing motivational speaker for the department of human services support staff event with the motivational speech, The Nerve to Serve... Say Hello to Humor & Goodbye to Burnout!
I had the pleasure watching a fantastic motivational speech about dealing with difficult personalities presented by Nanon Talley and Lori Giovannoni.
Lori was a motivational speaker for over 20 years before she retired and took the job as the department of human affairs professional development director.
