On October 9- 10, 2013, I was a motivational speaker for the Midwest Regional Payroll Conference in Branson, Missouri. This 11th Annual Event is held during payroll week to celebrate payroll professionals.
Over 200 payroll professionals from across the midwestern USA attended the conference. A payroll professions day can be hectic and filled with conflict. Regularily they deal with payroll issue for organizations ranging from 2 to 50,000 or more employees.
These professionals deal with issues like Tax reporting, garnishing an employees wages, overpayment, and deductions. Often at the other end of these functions are irrate employees demanding information and remediation on payment.
Payroll professionals must also send in tax remittances to the IRS which offers stressful deadlines. If an organization does not send in remittances to the government on time it can cost the company extensive penalties.
ObamaCare will have a large impact on employee benefit plans and potentially a payroll nightmare may be the result. These professionals are not clear on how the new legistation will effect benefits and how they do their deductions and remittances.
Payroll also involves month end and year end budget reconciliation.
I presented two motivational speechs for the payroll professionals. The opening keynote motivational speech was The Nerve to Serve... Say Hello to Humor and Goodbye to Burnout! and the closing motivational speech was I Love my Job, its the People I can't Stand.
I enjoyed being a motivational speaker to celebrate payroll week, the payroll professionals were a very engaging a fun crowd.
